Traditional Madrid-Style Pan con Tomate




"Classic Madrid-style Pan con Tomate: crusty bread rubbed with fresh garlic and ripe tomato, topped with extra virgin olive oil and a sprinkle of salt. Perfect as a tapas dish or snack!"


Ingredients:

  • 1 large baguette or rustic Spanish bread, sliced
  • 1 large ripe tomato
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Bread: Slice the baguette or rustic bread and lightly toast each slice until golden brown on the edges but still soft inside.

  2. Rub with Garlic: Take the peeled garlic clove and gently rub it over the surface of each slice, infusing the bread with a hint of garlic flavor.

  3. Add Tomato: grate the tomato and spoon it over the bread or put it in a blender without the skin. 

  4. Drizzle and Season: Drizzle a generous amount of extra virgin olive oil over each slice, then sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt to taste.

  5. Serve: Enjoy immediately as a tapa or alongside your favorite Spanish dishes!
